The Holiday Club policy.
We made a booking at Placid Waters in Sedgefield from 08 to 15 January 2021. I phoned The Holiday Club today, asking if I can cancel the booking due to the level 3 Covid lock down, closing of beaches, parks and public swimming pools till 15 January 2021 and keep my points used for the booking for future use. They said I will loose all my points if I cancel the booking at this stage. If someone might book the exact appartment I booked (after my cancelation), I might get some money back. I asked the consultant, what are the chances of some one making a booking, at this point of time!!! I told the consultant we don't want to drive down all the way from Gauteng to sit in the chalet with closed beaches. The holiday club should concider refunding their clients points as these are unforseen circumstances enforced on us. I am sure they are insured for these kind of circumstances, their clients are not! . There is a big lake at the Placid waters resort as dams, public pools and parks are off limits to the public, technically I won't even be able (lock down rules) to go near the lake or even swim in the resorts pool (which is too small for all the guests of the resort in any way, and will cause overcrowding if not closed). Note that the consultant said we can swim in the pool, when I said public pools are also off limits. The president asked that people should not visit hot spots (eg Garden Route) , and rather stay at home during this time, but we are forced (through Holiday Club policy) to still use the booking or loose the points . Please Holiday Club do the right thing, refund your clients points and restore our trust in you!
