Cancellation of contract with the Holiday Club

I want to cancel my contract due to poor service from The Holiday Club and because I just can't afford it anymore. They phoned me the other day and said that they made a mistake with my annual fees and that I now need to pay an additional R500 per month. They then raised a debit order against my account for R400 which I had sent back then I received an account which they charged me an additional R85 over and above. This all against my consent. I told them I want them to take back their points I want nothing to do with the Holiday Club anymore. They told I cant give back my points I must sell them. Well nobody wants these points, not even for free. Surely this cannot be legal, I don't want these points anymore I cant afford it and I am not going to pay these fees anymore. Can someone please tell me how to get out of this mess with the Holiday Club. It can surely not be legal to keep people to ransom with this open ended contract.

Hello clduplessis,

Thank you for your comments.

There seems to be a misunderstanding. The agreement that you have is not an open ended agreement. There are two options available should a member wish to terminate their membership of The Holiday Club.

You are entitled to request cancellation of your membership in terms of current legislation. The other option is to sell your Points. We will get a consultant to contact you by the end of business today.

Regards

The Holiday Club
