Blacklisted - The Holiday Club (***)

We joined the Holiday Club under the impression that we had been invited to sample living in a hotel under the auspices of the Holiday Club. In the morning after our night at the hotel, at Emperors Palace, we went to breakfast, we were then informed that we could not leave without being signed out by our guests because the Holiday Club wanted to market their services. Two guys presented to us different products which were expensive for us and eventually in a last ditch attempt to get us to sign on to something before leaving them empty handed, gave us a deal which he said would allow us to visit international destinations with their assistance. A month later we had to attend a funeral in Swaziland and requested assistance to book accommodation and we were sent from pillar to post a booking agent told us they had no agreement with any hotel in Swaziland. When Holiday Club could not assist us with the bookings, the card membership became of no use to us. When our budget could not accommodate the Holiday Club because of our changed economic status we informed Holiday Club but they were not interested but only to penalise without having explained prior the existence of penalties

Hello Simelad1,

Thank you for your comments. According to our records you approached us in November 2014 requesting cancellation of your Finance agreement due to a change in your economic situation - affordability. No mention was made at the time of the alleged misrepresentation. We provided you with the different options available in an attempt to ease your financial burden. You indicated that you would like to proceed with the cancellation of the Finance agreement - the terms of the cancellation of a Finance agreement is regulated by the National Credit Act, not The Holiday Club. You subsequently contacted us in July/August 2015 claiming misrepresentation on the part of the agent. We investigated and provided you with feedback on 31 July 2015 and 5 August 2015. We again re-iterated that we had no record of any reservation requests that you placed. with The Holiday Club. All reservation must be made via our Reservations department on telephone number ***, or on line via our website www.theholidayclub.co.za. That been said, a consultant will contact you by the end of business today to assist you with available options to bring the matter to a close.

Regards

The Holiday Club
