Accommodation is always fully booked when booking and getting charged full next years' annual fee when cancelling membership.

My account number is PLPTN221027, I have a problem with The Holiday Club, when ever I book a holiday I'm told that they are fully booked and I should book 6 months before, when I book 6 months before I'm told to book 12 months before and when I book 12 months before I'm told that they are waiting to get available accommodation I must try later during the month. I always have my points expired because I do not get accommodation. When I complain I am always told to write a complaint which is never attended and I'm requested to leave my details so that they can call me back, when they call they give me an alternative hotel or ask me to take an alternative date not the date and time I wanted. The Holiday Club was never helpful to me. I wanted to cancel my membership and I was told to pay the full membership amount before I can cancel and I paid the full membership and tried to book another accommodation and same story of unavailability was given to me. I then decided to cancel the membership and I was told to pay next year's (2018) annual fee of R12600.80 if I cancel, I then ask them to use my credit because they said if I pay with a debit order I will get a credit which they always show on my account. The last time I checked my credit it was more than R7000.00 and I ask them to use it but I was told that it has been used up so I do not have credit any more. I ask them that I pay by debit order and I am not even behind with my payment so when is this money used, they told me that it is used in one of my accounts but I was not owing them anything. Now I have 183 points to loose and they want me to pay another R12600.80 which is also not in my contract. I was told that they amend the contract without informing us as there is no need to do that. I want them to tell me what happened with the credit I have on my account as I was not owing them anything to use my credit and I also want to know why should I pay R12600.80 for next year if I am cancelling my contract this year and I am not told where to find payment of next year's annual fee in the contract. Why they are always fully booked every time we book accommodation and we are always sent from pillar to post. Why are they not informing us when there are changes.

Good day Ngwekazi,

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

We note your comments regarding unavailability of resorts when you tried to book. Various factors can affect the availability of resorts such as demand, time of the year and how long in advance you book.

In terms of the Agreement between yourself and The Holiday Club, you are required to pay an annual Membership and Reservation fee for the duration of your Agreement. These fees are used to cover the levy payments at the Resorts where The Holiday Club holds stock.

However, in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, you have the right to cancel your Agreement prior to the Agreement expiry date, subject to the following:

You are required to give 20 business days’ notice in writing
You are required to pay the outstanding amount due on your account
You are required to pay a reasonable cancellation fee.

Should you be unable to pay the cancellation fee in one payment, we can assist you with a payment arrangement over either a 6 month or 12 month period.

We will contact you by end of business today to discuss your concerns.

Warm Regards
The Holiday Club
