Very poor service and empty promises

Although I live in Cape Town, I bought a new vehicle from Rand Stadium Toyota the Glen, which is situated in Johannesburg, The local dealerships were unable to match their deal, hence the reason for choosing them. I want to share my experience on Hellopeter so that other buyers can make an informed decision before using Rand Stadium.

Background: Over and above the vehicle price, I was charged R11,772 for a service delivery premium and a further R999 for licensing and registration. I understood this to be for on-the-road cost and to deliver the vehicle to Cape Town. Although a lot of money, which brings into question whether it was still worth buying a vehicle from Jo'burg, I accepted the cost. I also asked for Smash & Grab safety film to be fitted, at a further cost of R3,147.

Delivery: I told the sales representative that I did not really care how long it takes for delivery to occur (i.e. in 2 weeks or 3 weeks), but when we agree on a certain date, he must stick to it. I explained to him that I was selling my current car privately, and couldn't afford to be without transport. So I wanted to make sure that I arrange with the private purchaser to only take delivery when I receive the new car from Rand Stadium. We agreed that delivery would take place on Wednesday 30 June, but by the Tuesday there was still no indication of the vehicle being transported down to Cape Town. Delivery then got moved to the Thursday and then the Friday (throughout this time I had to follow up with the sales rep, I wasn't kept informed). Every time a new promise got make, it was broken. I was without transport for a few days as a result, and was forced to take leave on the Friday due to their poor planning and communication. Also, I assumed the car would be trucked down, but they had someone drive it down, so it added 1,500km in mileage. When the car was dropped off, it was dirty from the long road. The driver asked me where he could find a car wash and whether I could take him to the airport. So I drove him to the nearest car wash, waited with him while the car gets washed and then took him to the airport (not really the level of professionalism one would expect when purchasing a new SUV).

Licensing: The vehicle was dropped off without the licensing being done, so a couple of days later the sale reps sends me the registration documents and asked me to license the vehicle at the traffic department, buy number plates and fit them, which I will be refunded for the cost. I complained because the on-the-road cost were built into the purchase of the vehicle, and even though I'll get refunded for the licence and number plate cost, it is the schlep of having to go to the traffic department and thereafter having the number plates made / fitted, that one actually paid for. You would think that the SuperGroup, of which Rand Stadium belongs, will have other dealerships in Cape Town that could perform this service locally, but no.

Smash & Grab: The vehicle was delivered without smash and grab, despite invoicing me for it. The sales rep first told me that he will arrange for the smash and grab to be done in Cape Town, but because of the bad delivery experience and empty promises up till that point, I told him that I would rather arrange it myself in Cape Town and that they must refund me. It has been weeks later (I took delivery on the 1st of June), countless e-mails and phone calls later, but no refund for the smash and grab yet.

Just to be clear, the vehicle itself is great, it is purely the service from Rand Stadium that I have an issue with.
