Worst wedding venue

<div>Our experience with The Garden Venue has not been pleasant at all. During the planning of our wedding we had many issues with the venue and we had a meeting with the general manager as we were not getting what we were promised when we decided to have our wedding at their venue. We had also been asking for months for accommodation pricing as some of our guests would have liked to stay over with us. During this meeting (2 months before the wedding) we were finally told about their pricing but by that time all the rooms were booked. They informed us that they are busy building four new rooms which might be ready by the time of our wedding. We then asked them that we have first option on those rooms when they become available. Our coordinator (who is the only person able to do his job and willing to go the extra mile for the client) then told the hotel to let us know. We were not called and these rooms were also fully booked. On the day of our wedding things were worse. When we arrived at the venue no one bothered informing our coordinator that we have arrived. We (the bridal party) were sent to the honeymoon suite (or so we thought) to get ready. When turning on the shower the water was running down the wall and the water also did not run out. While we were busy getting ready for the wedding there were men in overalls in and out of the room. The room was clearly not checked before our arrival. The lady who was supposed to assist our coordinator was also not very competent. She did not stay with the bridal team as she was supposed to and when it was time for us to go to the ceremony area she was nowhere to be found and we ended up just going by ourselves. When returning from taking couple photos we (myself and my husband) had to help herd the gusts into the reception so that we can make an entrance because the coordinator’s assistant did not communicate him. When it was time for dinner our vegetarian guests had to eat only rice and salad because the chef did not prepare anything for them. One of our vegetarian guests asked a waiter about the vegetarian meal and they said there was nothing. Bear in mind we did inform the venue of the vegetarian guests beforehand and paid full price for this. The DJ (and it is compulsory to use their DJ and pay thousands for him if you want music at your wedding) was ****. He did not know what he was doing and only played maybe 30 percent of the songs which we had requested before the wedding. He also told me that he does not have access to the internet so he cannot search music. When we (myself and husband) went to the hotel we were put into a tiny little room for the evening. We were also charged R1000.00 by the general manager the next morning for staining a duvet. We paid this immediately but he could not even apologise for putting us into a tiny little room for our wedding night. Through this all, the coordinator did the absolute best he could but due to no communication, incompetence and negligence of the other staff our wedding was actually quite lousy and the unapologetic attitude of the general manager was just the cherry on top. It bothers me how many people comment on TGV Facebook posts wanting to host their weddings there and will most probably be disappointed with the outcome. There is no communication and the venue is more concerned about profits than making the most important day of the clients’ life a memorable and pleasant experience.</div>
