Appalling Store Policy

I am absolutely disgusted at the way my daughters were treated at your Eastgate branch. My daughter wanted to try on a cream denim , when she was told she was not allowed to try it on because light colours were not allowed to be tried on in your store , as per policy. This is because we apparently will make the clothes dirty. The manager, Thandi, proceeded to tell me that all stores have that policy. She mentioned Woolworths as one of the stores with this policy as I was holding a Woolworths bag. She also mentioned H&M as one of the stores with this policy. Just as a point of interest, I have been shopping at both Woolworths and H&M for years now and I have never once been denied to try on an item based on the its shade.

When I looked around the shop, I realised that most of the customers in the shop were people of colour. Infact all of the customers were people of colour. I asked would the policy be different if the consumers were of another race? In her response to me, Thandi turned to her colleague and said " are we throwing the race card "? The fact that one of your managers finds it ok to respond in such a manner is disturbing. This policy that The Fix has put in place is disturbing in so many levels, taking into account our history as a country. Thandi is of such an oppressed mentality that she doesn't seem to find anything wrong with the fact that lighter items cannot be tried on in a store whose consumers are clearly of colour. This is unacceptable. I must also mention that there was another consumer standing behind me with a cream jacket, also denied fitting. Why bother keeping stock of lighter items in the first place? The Fix, you can do better.

This was my first time shopping at your store. I spent over R800 because my children really liked the style of clothing. I will definitely think twice before walking into one of your stores again.
