Dissatisfied ex-employee

I was an employee of The Estuary Hotel until 21 December 2018 when I was unfairly dismissed. I referred the matter to the CCMA in Port Shepstone and after the hearing on 01 February 2019, the conclusion was that I will receive compensation. I was told that the compensation will be paid half after 7 days and the other half on the 23rd of February. I am not fami**** with labour dispute processes and my Union Rep was not too assistant either. I was told I will receive R6 500.00 in two installments of R3 250.00. I would like to know if this was the correct procudure followed or was I supposed to be paid out more and also immediately. Was my lack of labour law knowledge exploited?
