Useless courier company

We have order an expensive painting from PE . The painting arrived yesterday damaged. It has an oil spill on the packing and it got onto the painting and it torn the painting. The courier guy doesn't want to take any responsibility but the packing is full of fragile stickers. what is the use then of the warning signs ?
