'The Courier Guy' opening deliveries sabotaging SME's

A Small black owned business lady used 'The Courier Guy' to make a delivery to my house about a week ago. She usually uses them or Uber Connect. I received an email from the courier company and unfortunately it doesn't give an ETA of delivery just basic ...'will be delivered' before COB, unfortunately we not going to be home all day waiting and hoping any time from 8am to 17h00 we might receive a package, we have kids to fetch from school. At the time the driver was home, my husband was not home and asked him to take the package to his office which was less then a Kilometer away and due to company policies he could not. The driver being in a hurry and after refusing the option of delivering to the office, hubby did ask if it's something fragile, the driver said no and at no point did he ask the driver to open his parcel. The driver took it upon himself to OPEN the package to make sure that indeed there were no breakable goods. He threw the parcel over a wall with an electrical fencing and left. Goods were damaged obviously.

The small business owner did offer to make a new tray for us, which I picked up myself and offered to pay 50% of the total value of the goods and all I was asking is that the Courier company reimburses her the courier fee for a terrible job. It may be a small company but its keeping and building good relations. The driver misrepresented 'The Courier Guy' and this may not tarnish their brand image but it sure has left a bitter taste in the mouths of people that trusted them with their livelihood.

Driver knows better and could have returned with the package and reschedule another day and time for delivery
