Refund from The Courier Guy but no Compensation for Loss
I submitted a review about The Courier Guy regarding my perishable items getting rotten at their warehouse over the weekend. I had paid just under R400 for the Contents and made Courier Guy aware that it was perishable and arranged for same say delivery. I was horrified by the poor service, especially from Tinashé at their call center who didn't do anything to help me after I told him that it would likely go off if I didn't get it delivered on the same day.
Well Monday arrived and so did my consignment and the stench was so heavy... I don't how how the driver even managed to transport it.
Anyway today I got a call from Hennie giving me some hope that they were acknowledging their mistake, and the error of Tinashé in not giving my query any importance. I felt it would be a good outcome.
Then I spoke to Portia afterwards who very politely apologized for the delivery of the rotten goods and explained that whilst they would refund my R92 for the waybill charge they would not compensate me for my loss as perishables are transported at the customer's own risk. But also that they have a cold room where they could have kept my stuff had I called them. But I did... and Tinashé did nothing.
So I spent R467 on something I eventually received rotten and this, on account of Tinashe's at The Courier Guy' unprofessionalism, unwillingness to care, desire to boast about his knowledge of the contract, lack of empathy...
And I have been refunded R92. The waybill charge. No one can compensate me for anything more than that as their policy doesn't allow them to.
I appreciate them coming back to me. Hennie who called this morning sounded very hands-on, very professional and seemed to share my frustration. Portia was polite but didn't balance it very well with her condescending manner of letting me know I wouldn't get any compensation and Tinashé, he shouldn't work with customers.
I appreciate the R92 refund as well. Although I have nothing to courier and that money is stuck as a credit in an account with them.
I'm not satisfied but I am content to have learnt a valuable lesson. Some people care. Others don't. The Courier Guy has a mix of those.
