Pricing Insanity

Effective the 1st of November 2024 the Courier Guy seems to have lost its mind concerning its second price increase in less than 12 months since the last price increase. Whilst I appreciate that inflation causes prices to rise and most companies have to adjust their pricing on an annual basis to account for inflation, the Courier Guy has clearly lost its mind with the latest price increase effective 01/11/2024!

We have discovered that any package with a mass or volumetric mass of 15KG's or higher the rates have double and tripled in some cases. A point in case is that a consignment we previously were being billed at R 250.00 prior to 01/11/2024, the very same consignment is now being billed at R 850.00 which is a 240% increase. When I brought this to our Courier Guy account representatives attention she advised that apparently management had "reviewed the business" and were "losing money" on the "large consignments" and therefore they had to "adjust" the rates to achieve a "balance" in the business. Furthermore she was going to "discuss with management" and would revert back to me and of course no suprises that she has not bothered coming back to me. When I discovered recently that Courier Guy has apparently been taken over by another company who's management are not even based in South Africa this all making a lot more sense. Courier Guy used to be an exceptional company, however it would appear the inmates are now running the asylum as Courier Guy could publish a book titled "How to F*CK up a perfectly good business overnight through pure Greed!".
