Pathetic migration to new back-end with less than zero interest in helping their customers
What an absolute JOKE TCG has been in handling their migration from Parcel Perfect to Ship Logic. From least to most infuriating:
1. My entire address book is gone - approximately 600 entries. Data migration is not a difficult task and requires fairly minimal database knowledge. The technical department of any company that runs on databases 100% for sure knows how to do this. If you're REALLY *********** enough not to know (even though you admin the database), a few minutes of Googling and some practice in an offline environment should get you going. They knew at least FOUR MONTHS ago that this change was coming (that is when us customers received the first communication that Ship Logic would be implemented on 26 December), so there was plenty of time to learn (if necessary) and implement. 2. Addresses now auto-complete using Google Maps. If it can't find the address, you have to manually book telephonically with a R 25 surcharge PER BOOKING. You have eight bookings to make quickly? That'll be an hour on the phone trying to spell out addresses at a charge of R 25 each, or sending an email and HOPING it gets read and actioned to the same day. 3.1. Accounts have been moved from prepaid to postpaid without any communication. Postpaid accounts attract an additional fuel levy, meaning all costs have gone up - from the few I tried (and failed - see below) to book online, the average cost per delivery is up close to 20%. 3.2. Accounts can no longer be taken off hold once payment has been made. FNB to FNB? Sorry, wait a day for the next billing cycle. Apparently there is nobody in accounts who can confirm and allocate that a payment has cleared other than early morning and late afternoon (yet this was possible until 24 December). As for afternoon payment allocations, their portal gives the date of the next invoicing run which is TOMORROW, not this afternoon (it's 10:30am as I type this). 3.3.1. A complete LACK of knowledge of their new system. After spending the last hour on the phone with various people in technical and accounts, I eventually speak to a manager who informs me that even though the account is marked as off hold (after they received my POP), the account will remain on hold until the billing run tomorrow - that doesn't help when I have a pile of deliveries to be dispatched as same day right now. 3.3.2. Under your account settings, you have the ability to request a 24 hour temporary limit removal. This does nothing, despite what they say. My account remains no longer says "on hold" at the top of the portal, but bookings fail with a "credit limit reached" error message. 3.3.3. A manager told me that all these changes were communicated to us via email a few months ago. I re-read the email just in case I am in the wrong, and there is NO mention of charges changing, NO mention of accounts being locked on hold for 24 hours after payment clears into their account, and really NO mention of anything other than saying that you should have the new API implemented (if you use it) on or before the date. I don't use the API, so there is absolutely nothing of relevance in the mail. 3.4. When telling them I hear their apologies and understand that the transition isn't going smoothly but I still need a solution, they can't provide one. When I ask if they're saying I must take my +/- R 10k/month business elsewhere, they're quick to say no. When I ask them what the solution is, they don't have one. What can/must I do other than take my business elsewhere?
Being told to keep an eye on our account balance doesn't help me at all. One day it could be a total of R 300 in delivery charges, the next day it might be R 2,000. By the time I know how many deliveries there will be in the next 24 hours it's far too late to make payment in time for the account NOT to be put on hold, even though it'll be in their bank account instantly.
This feels like a cash-grab, where they want everyone to have thousands or tens of thousands of Rands sitting in their bank account to avoid possibly having your account put on hold. We as your customers are being ******ed to keep far more money in YOUR bank account than necessary as a "just in case."
Thankfully I have accounts at other courier companies who actually do want the business and I have just arranged for about R 400 worth of same day deliveries to be done through them, even if they cost a bit more. That's one morning worth of deliveries - there will be more this afternoon, more tomorrow, more the day after, none of which TCG seems to want.
