Has The Courier Guy gone mad with their price increase of late??

I have been doing business with TCG for a number of years and have built a large part of my business on their distribution network.

On the 8th of August 2024, I sent an order to a client in Johannesburg via TCG and paid R468.00 courier fees.

On the 7th of November I sent another order, exactly the same, to the same client at the same address and paid R860.00 courier fees.

I was aware that TCG had informed us of a price increase and have always adapted my business model & prices accordingly because increases are part of life (considering fuel prices for instance), but 84% increase in a matter of 3 months is not only unreasonably exorbitant, it is inconceivable from a SME business point of view!

It basically renders this part of my business redundant until I find a new courier company that can help me within the initial constraints and pricing structure which I considered fair and reasonable.

The above example is only ONE example of many where this new price increase of TCG has brought this section of my business to an abrupt, unplanned standstill.

How can any company justify such a massive increase?? It is not sustainable to us as the customer nor to our customers who have to carry (part of) the cost.

As a consumer and long standing loyal customer of TCG I am utterly disappointed and, honestly, enraged by this decision from TCG.

I honestly hope this will open the doors to a new courier company prepared to step up to the plate and do business in a fair and justifiable manner for us all to survive an extremely harsh & competitive economical climate.
