Courier guy not interested in clients safety
On 27 March, a The Courier Guy driver arrived at the gate of my complex and rang me. I asked, as I always do, where the parcel was coming from. I do this for safety reasons to try confirm that the man calling from the gate (which I am not near and cannot see) is in fact making a legitimate delivery. He could not tell me. I let him in & explained to him why it is important that they give us this information. He rudely dismissed me saying I was the one that ordered something so I should know I’m getting a delivery. I explained that I get many deliveries and hence why I need to confirm this information. I explained to him that there have been incidents where ********s ring pretending to be a courier and then end up holding up the person in their home. He was totally dismissive so I asked for his name so that I could call Courier Guy. He refused so I then also refused to engage further, I did not give him the pin & I shut the door and opened the gate so he could leave the complex. About 2 minutes later I got a call from his manager Lesego. I explained the issue to Lesego and Lesego, apologised, said he understood & would chat to the driver. Later that day, the driver messaged me saying the parcel he had given me was the wrong parcel and that he had the correct parcel for me with him. I had already opened the parcel (which had my name, my address & my waybill number on) & the item inside was correct (from Makro SA). I asked him why he thought that but to this day he has never rep****. The following day, they again arrived with another delivery, this time from Feelgood Health. The driver refused to hand over this parcel until I returned the item that had been delivered to me the day before. I told him I would not do that as it belonged to me - I had paid R600 for the item and it was the correct item and that the driver from the day before had made a mistake. But also I asked, if they were insisting that the item I had received was incorrect, where was the supposed correct item for them to swap with me??? They had no other parcel to swap with me????? So they just wanted me to hand over an item I had paid for and was rightfully mine? 24 minutes this man stood in my front yard refusing to hand over my R1300 Feel Good Health parcel while calls were made back & forth to Lesego. They eventually realised that they were mistaken and delivered the parcel. Over the incorrect information given to them by their driver the day before, they made a scene in my complex in front of my home treating me like I’m a ***** or common ******** - never mind that I paid for those parcels as well as delivery! Yesterday they again arrived to make a delivery, I again asked what I always ask - who is the sender? They now refuse to provide this information. I’ve explained to Lesego & his manager Mitch Mitchells (?) that this poses security concerns as we cannot just be opening up to anyone that just says they are making a delivery. Every other courier that comes here provides this info! RAM Hand-To-Hand Couriers, Fastway Couriers South Africa, Dawnwing Global Express, Xtra Smile Couriers etc etc but Courier Guy refuses. Mitch Mitchells tells me today that they can’t tell me who has sent the parcel due to the POPI act!!! I cannot imagine why then we should live in complexes, have walls, electric fencing, access control with intercom facilities for people to let us know who they are and why they are there. Because according to Courier Guy, I must just open when their driver says “DELIVERY”. I should not be allowed to ask information to try confirm that it is safe to let someone in. Mitch has now told me he will tell Pudo to stop delivering to me because my request is apparently unreasonable - I should have no right to ask for any information from people requesting access into my property.
