Courier Guy | Making Mega Turnover Because You May Not Know WHY
I have been using their services for years and the pricing is just getting worse and worse with random increases. Nevertheless, I moved and item from Jhb to MP and was quoted at R600, which my client paid for. This was actual measurements of the product. Apparently, the product isn't measured that way, and they apply volumetric mass principle. In essence, they square an odd shape item off and one has to pay for all the empty space, which isn't being used in their vehicle. Again, this isn't the real volume being used. It is a calculation for an item which isn't square edged.
This now means that they charge every other client for their shipments, that fit into MY empty space and make more money, from every other person that has their parcel being thrown onto the same vehicle, even though I have been charged. For reference, my actuals worked out to R600, but I had to pay R2040 for the same item because of their methods. That's correct. I paid R2040 to move a 5.5kg item from Jhb to MP. It's no wonder why TCG is growing at such an alarming rate.
My advice to anyone, DON'T ever send a parcel outside of an actual box or these courier companies will take your money and more from the rest that they can put into the space you already paid for. Don't give them the satisfaction of using your space that you paid for, by earning more and more.
No wonder their turnover was R1.85bn in 2023.
