Beware of the Courier Guy for fragile items
We complained to the CourierGuy because lately our parcels with live plants are being mishandled and tipped upside down. We know this, because tipping it on it's side would not result in all soil being lost or the plant being totally broken, because they are packed so they cannot move side to side, and wrapped in plastic. The reply from their Nadia Goosen "Due to the way our vehicles and sortation system are designed, it’s unavoidable that boxes are loaded and transported on their sides at times for part of the journey. This applies to all freight, regardless of handling labels, to ensure safe stacking and make the best use of space in transit." So best you understand irrespective of whether you have a top of a box, or you mark your item as fragile, their priority is too fit as much as they can in and your fragile litem might land under a cement mixer if that suits what they consider a "safe" stacking order". I assume safe stacking order means it won't fall over. At the same time I have to note that this issue only started recently in the many. many years that we used the courier Guy with every second or third parcel being damaged and the cost being for our account. As we might have expected, everyone is an expert, except when it comes to taking responsibility.
