Faulty Devices and No Accountability! They will dodge you for weeks.

I made an online purchase for a Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro 64 gb smartphone from The cellstore, and it was delivered to me in Cape Town on the 27th July 2018. 5 days later (on the 1st August 2018) when I was about to leave the office I noticed a purple smudge of the side of the screen. The next day I noticed it was quickly getting worse. I called The cellstore on Friday 3rd August 2018 to report this. I spoke to Lee who arranged for the phone to be couriered back to them in Pretoria on Monday 6th August 2018, and that I would get a new phone. When I called them on 8th August, Lee notified me that the phone was sent to their supplier and would take a few days for me to receive a new phone. A week later (15th August) I phoned The cellstore and spoke to Lee again. She said their supplier is trying to say I dropped the phone, but Lee (Cellstore) herself then said she could see that wasn’t the case as there were no marks whatsoever on the phone. She said they will be sending the phone to Samsung for checking and did not know how long it would take but would try and get me a loan phone. On the 17th August “I” called them as usual and Lee said the phone was booked with Samsung and “I” should call again on Monday 20th August to find out about the loan phone. I called on Monday 20th August and Lee said I should call her manager for an update (I’m the one that must always call). I called her manager Anthea on Monday 20th August 2018. Who now said she doesn’t know if the phone has been booked with Samsung. She said they sent a “picture” of the phone to supplier who, based on a picture of a spotless phone, claimed I had mishandled it. She claimed she was unsatisfied with the supplier as she could see that the phone was not mishandled. She said she would drop off a loan phone that evening, as she was in Cape Town, but she didn’t pitch. I called the next day again but she didn’t pitch again and third (this morning) time she didn’t answer her phone. Lee this morning (22nd August 2018) says Samsung claims that I put something heavy on the phone and that her manager Anthea says she is not Liable for the phone. She says her manager Anthea says I am liable for the phone. These are the same people who agreed that the phone is spotless and would give a new phone. They tell me this after keeping the phone for 3 weeks. Lee said she would send me a Samsung report and will speak to me after speaking to her manager she still hasn’t done that. I am so frustrated and disappointed with these people. I will not let this go until I get my refund!

HI Thank you for your review

Please note with your device being imported the process of getting your device back to our supplier is longer than it would be if your device was a local unit. After our supplier informed us that they would not repair the phone under warranty as this particular problem can only be caused by negligence on the customers side, we opted to get a second opinion from Samsung South Africa. The report supported their claims and therefore we wont replace or repair your device under warranty. We will email you the official Samsung report.

We will also allow you to get a report from another Samsung Repair Center and we will gladly repair or replace your device if the report redeems you of any negligent usage.

Kind Regards

LM

It is ironic that you are so quick to reply to reviews on public platforms. While you still have not sent this report you have been claiming to have. What is this mishandling that this report you claim to have, allude to? On a phone that was clearly (as also confirmed by your staff) undamaged and brand new. I will not take this lying down because you cannot engage "your" suppliers.

The report by Samsung indicates that theres is an internal crack that could only be caused by an heavy object being placed on the screen. We are giving you an opportunity to get you own independent report and if you can vindicate yourself we will gladly replace or refund you. We asked Samsung to provide us for the report in black and white. We will forward this to you as soon as we receive it.

Please note that we took your device to Samsung South Africa after our supplier indicated this is user negligence and not a factory error to use the report to prove to our supplier otherwise. After our supplier and Samsung confirmed user negligence we are no longer liable to honor the warranty. If you bring us a report from any Official Samsung Repair Center vindicating yourself of any negligence we will gladly replace your device.

Please send me the official report and the details of the person you dealt with at Samsung. How do I know that the phone is in the same state it was in when picked up from me in Cape Town. Do not send the phone. Please provide me with the documentation as I am seeking legal counsel on a way forward. You have my email address, I don't understand why you keep talking about sending me this report instead of just doing it.
