Disappointed in the service

As someone who has stayed at many hotels, I unfortunately would not recommend this one—especially if you’re planning a special occasion.

I wanted to curate a romantic evening for my anniversary, but the team made no effort to make it special. Despite emailing, WhatsApping, and calling in advance to request a specific room overlooking the city skyline, we were given a room right at the entrance. Not only was my request ignored, but no one offered so much as a complimentary gesture (like a glass of champagne) to make up for the disappointment.

Mind you, I had spent hours online carefully searching for the perfect room to make this night memorable, only to be let down. Instead of enjoying my anniversary, I spent nearly two hours running up and down looking at other rooms, trying to salvage the evening for my partner. At no point did anyone attempt to make up for the inconvenience.

As a business owner myself, I find it very disappointing—especially when a guest goes out of their way to request something simple that could make their stay more comfortable or memorable. The least the team could have done was show some effort.

I understand that the exact room I requested might not have been available, but there was no attempt to offer something comparable. When I asked what other guests had done differently to get the room I requested, no one could give me an answer.

Overall, I left feeling very disappointed and let down. I would recommend either staying at The Houghton Hotel or even Sandton Hotel if you’re looking for a more inexpensive option.
