CARWASH REIMBURSES CUSTOMER FOR VEHICLE BREAKAGE

COMPLIMENTS TO KEN BOWDEN, OWNER OF THE "CARWASH" LOCATED AT THE ENGEN GARAGE, HENNIE ALBERTS STREET, BRACKENHURST, ALBERTON, JOHANNESBURG:

On Sunday morning 10 January 2020, my life partner Pat took her car, an A170 Mercedes Benz, to "THE CARWASH", in Hennie Alberts Street, Brackenhurst, that we have been using for many years, because of the excellent job that they do with cleaning cars.

When Pat collected her car and drove home, she found that the steering wheel column was loose. Our home is 30 seconds drive from the car wash and upon arriving at home, she found that the known that the steering wheel height adjustment knob was faulty.

Stated in plain South African English, it was "Broken".

A part of the car that Pat had not touched for many years had been broken as some moment between dropping her car off at the car wash and collecting it.

On Monday 11 January we took the car to the carwash and showed the problem to the duty manager Lindor, who immediately gave me the owners telephone number, as we glanced around at all the signs stating "You use this car wash at your own risk and we cannot be held responsible for XYZ ETC", which of course are meaningless in the law if negligence is committed by the service provider.

Pat had her car repaired on Tuesday by a Mercedes Benz specialist at a cost of R 900.00 and we meet with Ken this morning to settle the matter.

After a brief and pleasant discussion, Ken reimbursed Pat in full.

He also shared a few stories of how people with problematic cars actually try to take chances through trying to blame the Carwash for broken parts that were clearly broken long before the car came to the car wash. He told us that this happens all the time.

In the context of that, he took time to meet us, to look at Pats' repaired vehicle himself, after which he reimbursed Pat in full.

This is client relationship management at its best and Pat and I will continue to have our cars washed at "The Carwash."

Not because of this reimbur*****t, but because of the fine job that The Carwash Team do for fair price and I guess also, for the professional approach and pleasant demeanor and attitude of Ken Bowden.

Thank you Mr. Ken Bowden.
