Disgusting behaviour of owner
My mom, who makes jams for cafes, stores and coffee shops, has been waiting for payment from one of her stockists, the Bell Inn Cafe, (208 Kenneth Kaunda Drive, Durban North) for 2 months. She has not heard from them since they began stocking her products, so she asked me to go to the cafe and collect her remaining stock (as she lives in Ladysmith) and chat to the gentleman who originally ordered the stock (the chef of the cafe).
I went in calmly, asked for my mom’s stock, and got handed back a broken box of jams. After receiving the stock in bad order, I went to talk to the owner, who in response was extremely aggressive. I simply wanted to find out what had happened in the last two months and where my mom’s money was, as my mom is in no financial position to be handing out free jams. The owner proceeded say that I had a disgusting attitude and that this must be because I’m a *******. This is her assumption of me according to my physical features. She told me I should have never dealt with the chef, even though he was the one who initially placed the order. She continued screaming abuse at me, using vulgar language and then had her male manager forcefully and inappropriately push me off the premises, all while screaming, swearing at me and calling me an animal, WITHOUT a mask on. They also took photos of me without my consent while I was there. The owner has since been harassing my mother with phone calls and messages.
I am absolutely appalled by the behavior of a business owner/and woman, by her unwarranted assumptions, by her judgmental and accusatory attitude toward me, by her agressiveness toward someone doing something completely within their right. I am more so appalled that a man would lay his hands on me and push me out of the premises for no reason, screaming in my face without a mask on. I am disgusted in this establishment and would not recommend supporting this business whatsoever.
