**** about Work and upset my students

I was Employed by The Beat Dance Studio as a Dance Instructor. I already was a qualified Latin American and Ballroom Dance Teacher with years of experience. I was promised a full student body and would be able to make ends meet financially. I resigned from an excellent job as General Manager of a hotel in the Drakensberg and relocated to Pretoria to start the job. Upon my arrival I was told that the Instructor whom had resigned had changed his mind and I had nothing to worry about. I thought nothing of it. I then proceeded to learn their syllabus as it was not a recognized syllabus by any institute. I then slowly very slowly started to build a small student body. But not fast enough to sustain a living. I continued to push and work hard. I also trained beginner teachers in technique and helped them to become better dancers and teachers themselves. After 6 months of hard work and determination and commitment things were still not looking up. I then decided to take a change and go back into the hospitality industry. So I resigned. I was then told that I would have to pay R20 000.00 for training I had received of which is not fair. Their syllabus is not recognized by the SADTA or IDTA. They do not provide any certifications of any kind and now they want to hand me over for debt collections. I do not feel that this is fair in any way whatsoever. I uprooted my life to move to Pretoria with the promise that I would be looked after. My students were not happy with the way things were handled and felt they could not progress with their dancing due to everything being done at the Studio. No competitions were ever arranged outside of the studio. Students continue to contact me and ask If I am teaching because they are not happy with the standard of dancing, and I have to tell them no due to the nature of my life at the current moment. I will NEVER recommend this studio or business to anyone and I will make sure that everyone knows what happens here. They charge their students R395.00 per half hour and then they pay between R25 - R60 depending on your student body. In order for you to receive R60 per hour you HAVE to teach over 200 lessons a month. If you don't then they say Shame. They expect you to be at the studio everyday all day. They do not allow you to persue any other form of income to sustain yourself. And they continue to belittle and make you feel inadequate. This is The Beat Dance Studio. Its suppose to be a great place. Until you see behind closed doors.
