Sale of damaged goods

<p>We purchased a Mexican chimnea from The Authentic Mexican yesterday 07th Oct. When we arrived to collect the BBQ was sealed in plastic wrap. From the exterior it looked wonderful, we had seen on the internet but wanted to see the real thing before purchasing. We purchased the chimnea, the owner, Jeremy packed it into our car upside down which is exactly the position it was transported home. When we got home and started to remove the plastic we noticed the bottom was cracked. We immediately took a photograph and forwarded it to Jeremy who agreed to come and look at it the following day. </p> <p> </p> <p>When he arrived here he immediately went onto his hind legs and accused us of breaking it ourselves. We showed him that the original paint and dirt was ingrained into the crack which is a clear indication it was either an old existing crack or that it was damaged in production and prior to painting the product. He argued, yelled at us and continued to say he would not take the product back and or exchange it for a new one and continuously accused us of damaging it. At R 7700.00 I will not accept damaged goods, yet still he refused. I have subsequently found out that he is not the importer as indicated and only bought the one product from the importer in the Cape hence the reason he clearly does not want to exchange it.</p> <p> </p> <p>He did not even consider a replacement of the damaged portion. He was totally inconsiderate with zero tolerance towards any solution of the problem. It was simply "you have purchased it so the problem is now yours".</p> <p> </p> <p>Service such as this should be unacceptable and purchasers should be aware.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
