Flight Cancellation Blues

My flight to Koh Samui on 15/02/2018 was cancelled. I had already emailed Thai Air about flying with my pet prior to cancellation. The flight was changed to a Bangkok Airways flight = can NOT take my pet.

Thai Air phoned me to inform me about the change. I explained my situation to the (friendly) agent and asked her to please email me another option where I can take my cat.

For 6 days I phoned every day explaining my situation and that the TAir emails weren't coming through to me. Eventually they took a photo of the email and sent it to me via imessage. The photo was of the change to the Bangkok flight! I had already received this info and asked them everyday to look at other options for me as I can not take that flight. Then, the only Thai Air flight that was still available was on the 21/02/2018!

This is a problem, because my visa + permit in Vietnam ends on 15/02/2018. I'm working in VN until 9/02/2018.Which means I will have to organise + pay for a visa extension - which is quite expensive here.

I also already paid for a week of accommodation in Koh Phangan on which there was a no cancellation policy.I emailed the accommodation and booking.com and luckily they decided to pay me back, but I still lost money because of the international banking fees.

Furthermore, I have to get a letter from the Ministry of Agriculture within 7 days of my departure to fly with my cat, but the Tet holidays start on the 15th and departments often take the day or 2 before it off. Which means that I have no cer*****y about flying with him now and that I would have to email the Dept. of Animal Imports in Thailand about the situation to ask them for leverage.

All of this also happened at the end of the year, which as you know, is already frantic and stressful for most of us.

Why did Thai Air cancel their flights after selling them? Surely TAir should know that changing international flights can negatively affect people in an array of ways.

I've spent a lot of time and energy having to deal with this change...Does Thai Air take any responsibility with regards to this?

No - I sent them this information 11 days ago and I still haven't heard anything back from them.

Feeling helpless.
