Not a pool specialist!

1. We contracted with George from the Kandua Vetted contractor platform to renovate our swimming pool at a cost of R67,150 after being quoted around R60,000 for the total project, due to unforeseen items which the contractor neglected to incolude in his original quote.

2. Throughout the process there were a great deal of schoolboy mistakes including very poor workmanship and poor weather planning which caused the project to over run from four weeks to 12 weeks!

3. George was quite reliable and on time everyday - George is good at always asking for more money.

4. Thankfully I withheld a lot of money until I was eventually satisfied after huge frustration, partially satisfied with the progress on the project but:

3.1 The reason I renovated the pool was due to the pool leaking water - which it still does, after brand new concrete, plumbing and marbelite.

3.2 The pool was leaking water from day 1 and George was meant to install a water proofing treatment since December 2020 but could only do so a week ago.

3.3 I paid R1,000 for the material as George did not have any money and thus it appears he expects me to finance the 10 year guarantee on my pool.

3.4 The pool exterior levels are not all correct and higher in some areas than others.

3.5 The marbelite is already stained and has rough parts and hand prints on the steps which still need to be corrected.

3.6 The tiling is not perfect as expected with them having performed an “average” to low quality installation of tiles worth R300 a sqm.

4. Finally - I would rate George for: - swimming pools 4/10 - plumbing 7/10 - tiling 5/10 - reliability and willingness to resolve issues 8/10 (albeit at my own expense!) - paving 7/10

I would strongly recommend that you appoint a professional and reputable pool contractor before forking over your hard earned cash to this company, rather use them for general building works but please ensure you work very carefully with George.
