Gloria Sisilana - the agent who swears at you and doesn't know what's in her own contract
This is my correspondence with agent, Gloria Sisilana. Judge for yourself.
Me: Hi Gloria, I left the key with *Person A and *Person B. Please confirm when I can expect the deposit.
Gloria: Hey ok thanks.
Me: Hi can you please answer my question. You've been responsive when communicating about the keys, I hope that isn't changing now because I'm asking about the deposit. I'm not a problem saying it must be immediate, I'm just asking for a date please.
Gloria: Hawu Jehova kahlen bo. I did forward communication to your boyfriend about the deposit, convo between myself and the landlord since I don't have your money, he does. Manje ufuna ngithembise I-date ngemale engekho kimi? Whereby ngakhuluma with your guy? Kahle kancane tu dont abuse me hle.
At this point I call Gloria to try and end the matter quickly. As I'm explaining the reason for my call, she talks over me and throws a complete tantrum when I ask her to wait for me to finish. I ask her to calm down as she swears at me saying "voetsek"; and then hangs up before hearing anything.
She then refuses to pick up the phone:
Me: Nobody is abusing you. I was asking you to wait for me to finish my sentence. as I'm the one who called. Since you're unable to keep calm and behave like an adult on the phone, let me rephrase my question. Please can we get a DATE CONFIRMATION of when we can expect the deposit. My boyfriend told me everything. I am now communicating with you for my own clarity on a DATE.
Not getting why you're so angry, it's simply a matter of checking with the owner and getting back to me. No need for drama and swearing and the tantrum you just threw. Such childish behaviour [sour face emoji]. Please relax yourself and follow up on the responsibilities of your job.
Gloria: Since I'm a child and you are an adult why don't you sort yourself out as a woman? Asiqale net lapho before we go any further. Can't you see you're a mess?
I won't talk to you but your boyfriend. Wena uhlangahlangenene njengempepho. Won't go back and forth with you. Wena bekumele ulinde and bone iyaphela na inyanga and still no deposit then ask for a date.
Me: I said childish behaviour, not that you are a child. Your anger is blinding your logic right now, and refusing to answer indicates that. Lol, please send me the owners number so I can talk to someone who is calm.
Gloria: Ok Ms Shrink or should I say Mrs
Me: The lease was taken in my name so unfortunately, in an official capacity, I'm your client, whom you're happy to swear at lol. I don't know Zulu so those sentences are going over my head lol. Calm down Gloria. I'm not a shrink, just the calmer person in this situation. It doesn't take a shrink to see misguided anger and tantrums.
I was waiting for the 14 days to pass before I asked by the way. But you don't care to have a conversation, you want to shout and scream and swear. You should read the contracts you send out and operate accordingly for your own sanity and the sanity of your tenants.
GLORIA: Jesu! Uyasha uyavutha yaz wena? [laughing with tears emoji] Bye mess.
ME: Again, don't understand Zulu lol. Please can I get the number of the owner or someone calm I can communicate with. Gloria, you refuse to answer my calls. I just need the number if you're not willing to follow up.
- She forgot to do an entrance inspection but the owner didn't seem to know as he expected a corresponding exit inspection for the deposit refund. The contract clearly states that any claim to the deposit is forfeited if no entrance inspection is done.
- In instances where she'd blame the owner for things not getting fixed, it's been confirmed in some cases that she actually hadn't communicated issues to him at the time they were raised.
- The contract stated that we'd be communicated with, in an official capacity 80 to 40 days prior to the lease expiring - this wasn't done. I had to send the email 40 days prior, informing her. She then called my boyfriend to confirm much later, no correspondence letters were sent at all.
So ja, the experience with Tenant Finder (and Gloria specifically) is that once they've found the tenant, they basically consider their job done. Don't expect much after you've signed that lease.
