PATHETIC LIES:FORMAL CONSUMER COMPLAINT: TEMU'S ADVERTISED SEVEN FREE GIFTS – TRANSPARENCY AND MISLEADING PROMOTIONAL PRACTICES

I am raising a consumer complaint regarding my participation in Temu's promotion advertising seven free gifts. I participated in good faith, relying on the offer and the impression created by the information displayed in the application. However, as I progressed through the promotion, additional requirements appeared to affect my ability to claim the advertised gifts. This raises serious concerns about whether the material conditions were clearly and transparently disclosed upfront. My concerns are: Transparency: Were all the requirements necessary to claim the seven free gifts clearly disclosed before consumers participated? Misleading impressions: Does the promotion create the impression that consumers are close to unlocking their rewards, only for further conditions to emerge? Consumer rights: Are consumers given sufficient information to make an informed decision before investing their time and inviting others to participate? Accountability: Why does Temu continue referring consumers to general promotion rules instead of identifying the specific terms that explain the additional requirements encountered? I have requested that Temu honour the representation made to me and allow me to claim the seven advertised free gifts without imposing material conditions that were not clearly disclosed upfront. Alternatively, I expect an appropriate remedy if the offer cannot be honoured as represented. I have also requested that Temu preserve the relevant promotion records, displayed terms, invitation history and progress calculations relating to my participation. This is about more than seven free gifts. It is about transparency, fair advertising and consumer rights. Consumers should not have to navigate an endless process of changing targets or discover additional requirements only after participating in a promotion. If the conditions are material to receiving the advertised reward, they should be communicated clearly from the beginning. I expect Temu to provide a substantive written response addressing these concerns, rather than a generic explanation. If the matter is not resolved satisfactorily, I reserve the right to refer the complaint, supported by screenshots and other evidence, to the National Consumer Commission for consideration under the Consumer Protection Act. I am sharing my experience to raise awareness and encourage accountability. I also invite other South African consumers who have experienced similar difficulties with Temu's free-gift promotions to share their experiences and supporting evidence. Temu must be held accountable for the expectations its advertising creates. Consumers deserve honest representations, clear conditions and fair treatment. #Temu #ConsumerRights #ConsumerProtection #SouthAfrica #NationalConsumerCommission #FairAdvertising #ConsumerAwareness
