ZERO FEEDBACK

I hired a Ford Fiesta 1.4 from CPT international Tempest Car Hire on 23/12/2016 brought it back on 05/01/2017 upon returning the vehicle, it had a scratch which i pointed out to the agent. The agent then assured me that the vehicles are insured therefore I would only have to pay excess towards the vehicle which I had paid a deposit of R3426. After going through the T&Cs, my understanding is that i had R5000 cover for any damage and that I would have to cover the excess. I then called the branch on 20/01/2017 spoke to Bernadette, she tells me the vehicle has not been taken to insurance for assessment and the vehicle has been hired out to someone else - which I was not happy about because, as I mentioned to her, someone else can do damage to the vehicle and they can hold me liable for it, she did not say anything besides that I must call back end of the month and they will call me back with feedback.

After numerous times of contating the CPT Airport branch, I was then told Jaco is handling the claim/query and he would call me back. Not once did he call me back, until I lost my cool with an agent that answered the phone on 01/02/2017 and insisted that he find me Jaco, eventually he gave me a cellphone number. I called Jaco on the cellphone and as usual with Tempest staff, he never called me back. I called him and demanded answeres when he communicated to me that the vehicle has been assessed and the total cost to the damage was +-R6800 of which they have taken my excess(R3426) and paid towards the claim now I owe an additional of R3861 to them. I asked what had hapened to their insurance cover of R5000 if I was liable for the full claim, JACO COULD NOT TELL ME! Instead said someone else would call me to explain.

Can I please get some clarity as to why I have had to cover the full claim as I was assured only the excess I would have to cover? No communication/invoice/statement ever sent to me which indicates that the rental company(Tempest) insurance cover is paid.

I believe, I should get a portion of my deposit back due to the fact that the vehicle was insured, i.e. Total claim = R6800 minus insurance(R5000)= R1827 which can then be taken from my excess (R3426-R1827 = R1599??? Awaiting for thorough explaination on this - URGENTLY!!!!
