Unhappiness with tempest car hire.
Booked car online for Saturday 31 August to Sunday 1 October 2019. At KZN Airport Tempest office, I was the only customer and this was first warning bell. lady consultant dealing with customer on phone complaining about ******* costs and petrol charges. dismissed as problematic customer. Got old model Ford Fiesta with bad tyres and unwashed. waiting in the hot sun for 10 mins for Renault duster replacement. Car had accident damages and repaired shoddily, dirty with sea sand inside. The spare tyre was loose and all the tyre changing equipment was loose and rattling .We had already spent 40 mins at the car hire and did not want to waste any more time. I questioned the full tank and the inspector indicated that the car has digital gauge so no problems. My son could not find rear seat belt clip and had to remove the bottom seat which was loose to locate the clip which was full of sea sand. I went to first garage about 20 kms away just to check and the vehicle took 59 worth of fuel and approx 4 litres. Clearly the tank was not full but the gauge showed full. The vehicle rattled and not smooth ride all the way but we tolerated as only short distance travelled. I filled tank in Gateway garage then again at the airport Garage as I always do. Gauge again showing full tank when I returned the vehicle. Sadly, when I get the bill, I saw R20 service fee to fill fuel and a charge and a R98 .45 fuel charge. This is highly questionable as I returned the vehicle full tank and I suspect a major **** and ********** practice to rob customers. This is the first time in 20 years of car hire that I experienced this suspectful practice. I want a refund and full investigation on the refuel process and how many customers like the one I overheard and me being **********. Until then Tempest car hire will not be hired by me or my family or work colleagues anymore. Old damaged cars with high mileage. Very unhappy customer.
