Tempest & Discovery-Bank hidden booking fees!

I’m extremely disappointed with Tempest Car Hire & Discovery-Bank. I booked a car online for the weekend — about R1100 total — picking up in Port Elizabeth and dropping off in East London.

Only after I had paid the deposit and received the lease contract did I see a “One Way Drop-Off Surcharge” of and additional R1770!!!. That’s more than the actual rental cost!

Nowhere during the discovery online booking process did it mention this ridiculous extra fee. You have to dig deep into their T&Cs to find it, which is completely unfair and misleading.

This feels like a trap to get customers to book first and discover the hidden costs later. Totally unacceptable business practice. I’ll never use Tempest again and would strongly advise others to be careful before booking with them.
