Yours personally, Tempest Claims Department

NOTE 1: UNSIGNED means I do not take responsibility and liability for this claim. And below was my response to this email:

Dear Valued Service Provider…

I have to say I am really upset with your service and this is the second time.

This first time, in Durban, I was told the car had been checked. Upon my return – after 24km from airport to the venue and back to the airport – I was told that a bumper clamp was loose and I was told I possibly bumped into something (by the expert car inspector/assessor), to this day I was shocked but this is getting worse as I am once again experiencing the same fabrication. *** Luckily this claim was not pinned on me as the one below ***

This time, I took rental of the car in question at 08:30 on May 31st. When I got to your front desk I was told the car was ready and had been checked. At a quick glance when I got to it, I realized that indeed the inspection was carried out as per the slip and there was nothing wrong with the car. I went inside and drove off. What is upsetting, as you are free to check your tracking device records, I never drove on low-lying roads and I did not have a motor incident that is now being pinned on me.

Please kindly remove this incident from my name and records – and finalize my billing, I am a Small Business Owner and cash flow is important to me especially since you are now holding my deposit. From now on, if you are under-staffed with vehicle inspectors I guarantee you that I will take the person helping from the front desk, irrespective of the queue, to come with me and inspect the vehicle.

I can also tell you that whoever prepared the car bumped it. He drove it recklessly before parking it ready for my collection that the average fuel consumption was sitting at 16l/100km +. And the average consumption in that car is 7.8l/100km. I know because it adjusted accordingly according to my conservative driving.

I am sick of these incidents at Tempest as I have never experienced such from other Car rental companies. Please do inform me if this is a plot or a plan to prevent me from renting your cars. I will gladly switch back to Bidvest car rental or Avis.

I await your feedback, tax invoice and deposit refund…

Kind regards, Thabo Brian Selepe

NOTE 2: I was never contacted by the person or department handling this claim.

NOTE 3: I learnt about the conclusion of this claim by calling the call center, to which I was informed that the claim has been finalized and no refund was due to me.

NOTE 4: Deposit Paid was (FNB :-) R 4292.00 reserved for purchase @ Tempest Car Hire Cape from FNB card), yet according to their invoice the deposit I paid was R 3977.60 with nothing / R 0.00 due to me; how convenient to Tempest Car Hire.

Note 5: Here is a breakdown of what is due to me: Deposit: R 4292.00

Less Charges: R 638.35 - Rental (2 days): - R 524.00 - Refueling Fee: - R 20.00 - Refueling Charge: - R 94.35

Due to me: R 4292 - R 638.35 = R 3653.65

NOTE 6: In conclusion, and I repeat - I am not liable for the scratch in question as I did not have an incident with your car, I also did not sign/accepted this claim that is being forced onto me by your unavailability of your staff to check the car with me or even contact me during processing this claim.

PLEASE KINDLY REFUND MY MONEY (R 3653.65) THAT IS DUE TO ME.

Can you please provide me with the Name and contact number of the person handling this claim... Your call Centre has no clue and I am tired of waiting as I indicated that I want my money back.
