Never hire from Tempest again

I rented a car from Tempest. I picked the car up at night, and did a quick check to see if there was any damage and saw none that was clearly visible. On return, the attendant picked up a barely visible scratch on the bumper and asked me to fill out a claim form. When I challenged it she told, that it was simply an administrative reporting matter. My deposit was returned with over R2,000 deducted for the barely visible scratch. When I queried with their claims department and asked for a review I got a standard response and refusal to refund the full amount.

Based on all of the other similar complaints I see on Hello Peter it would appear that this is a common occurrence with Tempest. I have hire cars regularly and have never had this kind of experience with any of the other care hire companies. I will certainly never again hire a car for Tempest and would anyone else of thinking of hiring a car from them to think again. Alternatively, if you do hire from them, make sure you inspect the car with a magnifying class to make sure that there is no blemish on the car and insist that they record it not matter how small or insignificant .
