Tembisa Hospital is failing to deliver adequate health care to patients.

On 6 November 2024 my aunt went to Tembisa Hospital for abdominal pains she was then moved to the ABT Ward and upon arrival to visit her on 8 November 2024. We found her sitting in a chair unattended and untreated, amongst 10 or more patients that also did not have beds and were seated in chairs in distress and pain. Some were laying/sleeping on the floor with drips, dried blood on walls, flies everywhere, dirty floors, stains on chairs, patients were carrying their own drips in their own hands, men and women were in the same ward, complaining they haven't seen doctors for days let alone admitted. They disclosed the poor treatment of the nurses, how they did not care for the patients or even have shame for the poor management of the ward and lack of privacy. My family had to call relatives that know Doctors in Tembisa to help attend to my aunt and it was revealed she was placed in the wrong ward and the Doctor assigned to her on the first day of arrival neglected her on the same day she arrived. She only received help after we complained and followed up on the Doctor, that we asked to help her on the 9th of November 2024. Had we not sought help and bring forward complaints my aunt could have faced serious health issues under their poor care and supervision of Tembisa Hospital.
