A booking that was not to be...

Themba College, t/a Themba Travel, 11 Broad Oaks Close, Somerset West, South Africa, operates inter alia a booking website for the Cresta Hotels Group. A booking with payment was made and confirmed via their website on 9 March 2019 and on 11 March 2019, less than 24 hours before a group had to book in at the Cresta Thapama Hotel in Francistown, Botswana, a certain Tubby Pretorius from Themba Travel advised me that the bookings were cancelled as the hotel was fully booked and that my payment would be returned. The question that needs to be answered is how Themba Travel can do online bookings and take payments if they clearly do not have access to the reservation system of the Cresta Hotels Group. A very poor show for international accommodation bookings.

We pride ourselves in providing the best service at all time. The client made a provisional booking on a Saturday. The booking clearly states PROVISIONAL BOOKING (in large capital letters) and the Terms and Conditions allow us 72 hours to confirm the booking. A holding deposit is held on our account, if the booking is not confirmed the deposit is reversed without ever going into our account. He received a document clearly indicating that it was a provisional booking. We could not get the booking confirmed on the Monday and our client was advised that the booking was not available.

We never the less find it painful that our client did not experience our service as good as we intend it to be.. .
