Truly Irresponsible from Teljoy
For the last two weeks I have tried to get a total amount still owing to Teljoy as I am trying as far as I can to settle any and all smaller debts as I am unsure of the current financial outlook and any future income I may or may not have.
I was firstly ignored on my request emailed to Helen Ncube on the 23rd April 2020.
Secondly, I was told via the live chat past Saturday by Terry this this is not possible as Teljoy does not give settlement amounts. Terry however informed me that she will escalate the query and someone will contact me by yesterday (Monday, 11 May 2020). This has happened.
I was however asked by Audrey Shabangu to provide a COVID 19 letter by my employer in order for her to assist me.
I explained to her the following: "I am unsure as to why you would want me to provide a COVID 19 letter as I am not unable or unwilling to pay, what I would like to do however is as far as is possible settle my outstanding debt with my various credit providers as I am unsure of what the near future may hold regarding my income.
Are you seriously inferring that your company would not allow me to be pro active in the settlement of any monies owed during this very unsure economic period? I would find that as utter ridiculousness by your company and would request that you would provide such information in writing, as I am under the impression that it would be highly reckless of any credit provider to not want to assist their debtors in this regard.
My request is simple, please provide me with the amount outstanding together with the administration fee for the transference of the rented equipment to my name. In case that is for whatever reason not possible, please in writing provide me with the reasons for that in order for me to be able to take up the issue with the relevant authorities and available channels in order for me to be granted the relief that I seek at this stage."
I really do find it beyond belief, that in this current economic climate a creditor would: 1. Refuse to settle any debt offered by a person seeking to be a responsible citizen. 2. For whatever reason refuse monies that are owed to them in any way.
As I am still awaiting a response to the mail sent yesterday, where I really do not think a decision on the matter should take that long for me to be able to ascertain what my next steps are to be, however I am still awaiting a response.
We understand you have been in contact with Audrey who is dealing with your issue.
Should you require further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards
The Teljoy Team

After a HUGE struggle (9 emails to and from on my count), I at least got my settlement amount, but with a R72 penalty fee for the reason "the amount will be paid in the form of a manual payment and not a debit order". So to me, it still seems that I am being punished by this company for being responsible and wanting to settlem my debts. I could understand if this would have been a cash handling fee, but seriously.
Anyway, as agreed, I will make the settlement payment and then hope that I NEVER, EVER EVER have to conduct any form of business with Teljoy again. Good riddance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
