Misleading advertising

I am very disappointed with Teljoy’s misleading advertising. The company promotes “anytime upgrades” and “no limits on the number of units,” which is not true. In reality, customers are required to pay a R500 upgrade fee, and even then, they must go through an approval process before an upgrade can be granted. Furthermore, there are restrictions on the number of units a customer can take. I strongly suggest that Teljoy update its statements to accurately reflect these conditions.

Hello Xolile

Thank you for raising your concern.

We’d like to assure you that there is no false or misleading advertising across our products or brand communication. Our messaging always includes reference to the applicable terms and conditions that govern all applications, including upgrades.

It’s also important to note that as part of our responsibility to customers, all applications are subject to meeting minimum qualifying criteria. This process considers several factors, including affordability, to ensure that approvals are made ethically and responsibly. It would be ********* for us to knowingly approve an application that could have a negative financial impact on a customer.

You claim that customers can upgrade anytime, which is not true. If your company genuinely cared about customers’ affordability and financial situations, you would not charge R500 for an upgrade. This practice feels misleading and unfair to customers.

Yes, and please also improve your app as it is frustrating to use and often does not function properly. Additionally, your customer support team should ensure they follow up with customers as promised, instead of saying they will call and then failing to do so.
