Insurance Evasion
I rented a flat screen TV from Teljoy in 2015 on a rent-to-own basis. I also took out a maintenance plan at the same time. After 3 years I took ownership of the TV, but carried on with the maintenance plan. In December 2019 Vertical lines started appearing on the TV screen, which got worse and eventually a dark blotch appeared in the bottom left corner. I approached Teljoy for repairs and they collected the TV late in January 2020. After a few days I was contacted by Teljoy, saying that the reason for the vertical lines was that I "bumped" the TV and that I will have to pay R3800 for the repairs (they politely included a debit order for me to sign). I contacted Octavia at Teljoy, explaining that the TV was never "bumped" because it was mounted on the wall for years and neither myself or my wife bumped the TV at all. Since I told Octavia that I am not willing to pay for the repairs, Teljoy has been ignoring all my communications. But hey......I have your replacement unit, which is a better model than my old TV and perhaps I will just keep that unit until you return my "fixed" Tv, or replace it with a new one!! Teljoy you are under contractual obligation!
