Don’t recommend !!!!

Dear Teljoy Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing in reference to my current rental agreement with Teljoy (Contract of washing machine). As you are aware, the original appliance stopped functioning and was deemed uneconomical to repair. I have received the replacement unit.

However, upon receiving the replacement unit, I was disappointed to find that it was visibly scratched, cracked, and in a used condition. While I understand, per Clause 7.4 of the rental agreement, that replacement equipment may be of “similar age,” Clause 6.1 clearly states that Teljoy will maintain the equipment in good working order, which I believe this replacement does not meet due to its physical damage and condition.

At no point during our communication was it made clear that the replacement unit would be in a damaged or heavily used condition, and I believe I am well within my rights to request a more suitable replacement that is in acceptable and good condition.

I kindly request that a better quality unit be provided as a replacement, or that a technician be sent to assess the unit’s condition to ensure it complies with the terms of our agreement.

Clause 6.1 – Maintenance

“Teljoy will maintain the Equipment in good working order and repair, or if necessary, substitute the Equipment with equivalent Equipment.”

This clause confirms that replacement equipment must be in good working order, not visibly damaged or defective.

Clause 7.4 – Risk Waiver & Replacement

“Where the risk has been retained by Teljoy, Teljoy will replace the Equipment… with similar Equipment of a similar age…”

The replacement can be second-hand, but must still be functional and undamaged. “Similar age” does not mean poor or unusable condition. Once you have received my old washing machine which was taken the same night by same delivery men who delivered replacement washing machine, you will see that my old unit was or is in immaculate shape unless the drivers damaged it. However the repair technicians who were here a couple of weeks ago took photos, and who I think will be able to share these to convey that my old unit was in FAR better shape compared to what I have received Friday afternoon.

Consumer Protection Act Reference: Section 55 (Right to Safe, Good Quality Goods) You have the right to receive goods that are: • Reasonably suitable for the purpose, • In good working order, • Free of defects (or disclosed otherwise), • Of good quality and durability.

Please share contact information for legal departments so that I can escalate this legally and where can I send the photos as proof, as the installations email stated on the delivery note is a dead end with no reply.

To crown all of this, the courier company who delivered the replacement unit and who collected the old one, took the old washing machine as is with all the pipes. No water hose pipe was sent with replacement unit. Therefore not being able to use it, which results in me paying for a unit that is in worse condition compared to my old unit taken, and now I have to spend additional money for the replacement unit to use it.

I am giving up. I received the new replacement unit yesterday. I will send new photos of the damage (but I doubt it will help as no one looks at it or even replies). The door to the drum is loose, when opened it wiggles up and down at the hinges where there aren't any *****s to fasten (the built in piece). Underneath the water dispenser, the color of the panels don't match - it almost seems like hard water stains that do not come off, I have tried, one part is lighter grey the other part darker grey. The same type of splotches are all over the top of the washing machine. The dispenser drawer doesn't seal / close flush to the panel. To crown this, the "end of cycle song" doesn't play. A quick google search reveals that this is in fact due to miss wired wires or an electronic fault. My old washing machine had NO scratches visible to the eye anywhere. My door worked 100 %, no flimsiness. My water dispenser worked, did not miss align, no harsh water stains, nothing was broken, my end of cycle song played. The only thing wrong with it was the fact that it didn't fill up with water as it should have. Now I am paying for something in WORSE condition compared to what I had. Also, I was informed that the old replacement unit collected, was just thrown into the back of the delivery truck. If this is any indication of how the appliances are handled, no wonder everything is broken and badly DAMAGED when arriving at customers. And all answers come back to the same thing, this is the only unit available and we replace it with something of the same "age" and "same condition"or please send photos to this or that - to which no ones reply. I really think this matter needs to be escalated and I request the contact information of the legal / accounts department to dispute this further, firstly I paid a whole month for an appliance I didn't have / did not work, and now I am paying for something that is NOT AT ALL in the same condition as what my previous washing machine was.
