False references to obtain new business

<p>A representative visitied our school stating that they are updating telkom systems for all school in the area. I was requested to provide several confidential documents to substantiate the school's legitimacy including fiancial statements, bank statements, copies of ID's, blank lettterhead, etc. </p> <p> </p> <p>I pretended that I did not have all the documents readily available and postponed the meeting. The representative insisted that he must get the documents before Thursday in order to process ouur application. I immdeietely checked but could not find any link to the Department of Education or Telkom. When the representative returned the next day, he suddenly had a different story . It turned out that they are using Telkom and DoE to introduce a private service for which you are then bound by contract for at least 60 months.</p>
