Upon receipt of the first email which I will forward onto you, the lady introduced herself as updating the Telkom telephone directory and that she needs me to sign the contract and send it back. Because being busy at the time I didn’t do this immediately and also wanted to make sure wat this was. I received another 4 calls from Lucy and in all the calls she introduced herself as phoning from Telkom Directory Services and that they urgently need the contract to be signed. In none of the conversations did she discuss any payment that will be needed from us for this service, no quote was sent to us and no money was discussed. I assumed it was for Telkom and the service fee to be in the directory is minimal, however to my surprise this morning I receive a contract and an invoice in the amount of R10 788.00.

I contacted Lucy and she was not available, I asked to speak to her superior and I was answered that I could speak to the lady who answered the phone and that she was her superior. I asked what her name is and she said it is MCkenzie Robertson. I told her that she can cancel the contract as at no stage was any money discussed and nobody said anything about a payment. She said that it would not be possible as it is a binding contract and if I don’t pay it they will sue us for it. I continued by saying that her agent poses as being from Telkom, even their email says telkomsa? Yet it is not a Telkom service and it was not clarified that it is not. She said that in the disclaimer (which I didn’t read) (and my attention wasn’t drawn to it) that it says in there that they are a third party. I said that she must supply me with their recordings. She said that they do not record it as it is not a telephonic conversation. I said that that is convenient so there is no proof that they are misleading people. I further on said that I will be sending this to my lawyer and she said I am welcome to. I also said that we will not be paying this as it is false information that I was given.
