Teaching English as a Foreign Language Level 5- The TEFL Academy

I recently completed the TEFL Level 5 course online and I can say it was a highly rewarding yet challenging experience. As someone from Mauritius, I appreciated the flexibility of studying online, which allowed me to balance the course with my other commitments as a teacher and mother of two sons.

The course was thorough and offered a deep understanding of teaching English as a foreign language. The content covered everything from lesson planning and classroom management to more advanced topics such as language acquisition and diverse teaching methodologies. What I found especially helpful was the focus on adapting teaching techniques for different types of learners, which I’m sure will be useful in any teaching setting.

However, the course was not without its challenges. The three major assignments were quite demanding, requiring extensive research and reading. At times, it felt overwhelming to keep up with the workload, but it was also a great opportunity to dive deeper into the material and really understand the theories behind teaching English. These assignments pushed me to critically analyse the course content and sharpen my research skills, which ultimately would help me feel more confident in my future endeavours.

The support throughout the course was fantastic. The tutors were always available to provide guidance and feedback shortly after submitting my work and the online platform was easy to navigate, making the whole learning process smoother.

Overall, while the course required a significant amount of effort, the knowledge and skills I gained have been well worth it. I would definitely recommend the TEFL Level 5 course to anyone looking for a comprehensive and in-depth qualification in teaching English as a foreign language, especially if you are prepared to put in the work!
