Two-year warranty is a hoax!

Fifteen months ago I bought a Queen-size electric blanket from Makro. It is a comfortable product and gives a good impression. However, when one side of the blanket stopped functioning, I was slightly annoyed. Fortunately, the box in which the blanket had been packaged, clearly stated that it had a 2-year warranty. I contacted Makro, who referred me to Russell Hobbs in Selby, Jhb. They asked me to bring the blanket to them and they would then exchange it. When I arrived they informed me that the control needed to be replaced - a one minute job. However, they then asked me the number to prove that I had app**** for the 2-year warranty. It was only then that I was shown that, beneath the 2-year warranty sticker on the box, was a message in nothing larger than a 3 point font that the 2-year warranty is only valid if you apply for this online on their website. I found this to be extremely unfair. Even with my reading glasses on, it is difficult for me to read that message and without glasses it is completely unreadable. Other clients who were stading around agreed with this. I then said that I will warn the public about this rip-off. One of the attendants then asked me whether I would be willing to speak to their sales manager, a man with the name of Francois. They placed the call and I spoke to him, explaining the situation. He assured me that this was the first complaint they had received about this, but that he would ensure that a larger font is used in future. But no offer at all from his side to honour the 2-year warranty! I paid for the new control and left. But the next day I went to a store to look at RH products and to my surprise noticed that the message is now in a lightly larger font (possibly 5 point) which says to me that I was definitely not the first person to complain about this. And when I went onto Hellopeter, it is clear that I am not the first person to complain about their extended warranty policy. Not only have I come to the conclusion that RH products are no longer of any superior quality, but their customer service is pathetic. (I would have preferred to write this message to RH directly, but they have no email details at all for customer service.) This has been the last Russell Hobbs product that we have bought. For R115 RH has been willing to sacrifice a loyal customer. Shame on you.
