Broken kettle sent for repairs??

I purchased a Russell Hobbs kettle in March 2018, thinking it's a top brand. Oh boy was I wrong. My kettle is broken, the lid won't open. When I returned it I was told that all Russell Hobbs appliances must be returned to them to check and see if they can repair it and also if it was wear and tear or did I break it on purposes. That is absolutely laughable. I don't have a kettle for the next 3 - 4 weeks until I hear the " Verdict". Really never again.
