Recovering Data from external hard drive

My name is Sello I'm self employed, i run a small company drawing plans for my local community, its a very difficult business because at times you go a month without an income or business i have three kids, Michel, Oratiloe and Lundiwe and my wife to feed.
On the 18th my hard drive was damaged so i decided to get professional to assist with fix/recovering the data. So on the 22nd of June i drove from Secunda to Johannesburg with my last petrol money to seek assistant in recovering the data. I went to CSSI in midrand and just within half and hour they told me they cant recover the and i didn't pay a cent, i then drove to TecLeo Recovery Lab The guy who assisted me said it will take a day to check if they can recover the data. the following day i was told the was 70% chance of success in recovering data and i must pay R4161 as a deposit then i wait for 7 working day for the results. After waiting for seven days i was told they can not recover any data from my hard drive.

I feel that the people who assisted me they knew that no data was going to be recovered from my hard drive but they continue to take my money because they cheat people everyday. How can you say 70% and find nothing

Hello scalod@,

Thank Sello you for taking the time to raise your concerns and allowing us the opportunity to respond. It is unfortunate that the data recovery attempt was unsuccessful.

Our free evaluation and quotation estimated a 70% chance of recovering ANY data from the drive due to an electro-mechanical failure and the fact that the drive was previously opened.

In the written quotation we pointed out that; \the above success rate is an educated guess. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to recover the data until we have opened the drive and completed repairs... (It is not possible to accurately determine the state of the data on the platters prior to opening and repairing the drive which we will do after receiving your approval).\"
