Technorstar Autobody is a ****mer with poor quality work and will never take accountability
I have had the worst experience ever with Tecjnostar Autobody in Durban. My insurance (Discovery) sent through my vehicle (Mercedes) to them for repairs towards the end of June 2023. Once authorization was provided, the agent (Tembakazi) advised that the car was being stripped down by the agent and via SMSes to diagnose the issue and for them to order parts. Two weeks later, 19 July 2023 I was sent an email stating that the parts are being ordered from Germany and I will have to wait 20 working days due to "COVID" delays. (How pathetic! The company still sights COVID, three years later). I was willing to wait. A week later, I was notified that the car was being repaired with "whatever" part they had, i got SMSes and notifications about the stripping jobs, painting, assembling etc., and that resulted in them not being able to release the car, because it was not "of good quality". Another week in or two, parts should have arrived, I enquire, the SMSes on the repairs started coming in again but this time, Tembakazi ends up telling me that there is a missing part. She promises me it's coming on a Friday (parts coming in on a Friday becomes the operative word from now-onwards, at least for the next three more weeks). Friday comes, no parts, another week someone needs more time with the vehicle, another Friday comes, a different part is now missing, at least two times when the car was assembled, i was notified a different part was now missing and again, it's coming friday. End of August, i insist I want my car back. This time i am told, they will put my old broken parts on, so i can collect the car on the 31st at 15:00. I then drive from PMB to DBN and get there at three only to wait another hour before i could see the car. At this point i speak to the general manager, Mandie, i am taken to see the car and i see the old broken cover and start enquiring on the expected new parts. She insists that the car is perfectly fine, the old parts are just "cosmetics" (covers) and the car is drivable. She insists i take the car so i wont incur further costs on the rental and that Mercedes will not give me a courtesy car since the car is drivable. She enquires further on the missing parts and learn that they were only ordered mid-august, were in back order and there was no confirmation as to when we can expect them. She insists that I should take the car and that if i leave the car, it might sit there for a month, 6 months or more when it's in a good drivable condition. I eventually request for my car, call my insurance (to confirm process, they pick up, promise to call Technorstar but keep me online for more than 5 minutes and never called back. Technorstar makes me sign a backorder something, insists i pay the excess in order to get the car, which i do and leave, 5:30pm. We drop off the rental car and go to near by garage to fill up petrol, check water (which the petrol attendant refills) and he then struggles to close the bonnet. We eventually force it down, drive off and get another notification from the vehicle that the bonnet is not close. we step out (two ladies at 18:00pm) and some guy stops by and eventually assists us force shut the bonnet again. We get on the N3, 5 minutes later get a notification that "Coolant, Stop vehicle, Switch off engine". Mind you, this was the initial message i was getting from the accident. Clearly no work and quality checks were done on the vehicle (and I had notified Discovery countless of times of this concern and was told that they cannot assist with getting quality checks on the vehicle before i take it, only the panelbeater can do that!) So, we off ramped to Engen garage in Musgrave and ask petrol attendant to check and he puts water which immediately starts boiling. We eventually call Mercedes and are advised to have the car towed to safety and not drive it! We eventually have to find our way back to PMB and got home at 23:00. Turns out Technorstar will keep your car at their premises, strip it off and reassembly countless of times but still have no clue which parts are required, they will unashamedly lie to you over the phone, look you in the eyes and lie to you again (management/directors - Wayne included); they do not have a clue on issues with the car, would go as far as to put back old broken parts when you put pressure on them to deliver quality work promised, and would never ever take accountability for the delays, costs I've incurred, trauma caused etc.
