Steer Clear! What a Pathetic operation and Bad Experience!
My Vehicle was ****** on the 15th of December 2022. It was recovered and sent to Technostar for repair. I remember being chuffed at the size of the institution and thought I would be in good hands. *** was I wrong! What proceeded has been the most frustrating undertaking and I feel helpless, I have been forced to seek intervention from the insurance ombudsman.
I was assigned a service provider who blamed all delays on my insurance company Old mutual and told me to fight with them. Which I did. Turns out Technostar had not submitted all the correct requests. Never the less I got both sides to confirm that they had everything necessary for the repair. And the repair could proceed.
Then their system is down for a week so nothing happens.
Over the next two months I received regular updates via the service assistant ( I would have to phone at least 5 times and threaten everything in my power to get a call back) and their fancy new SMS/online system that said my vehicle had been progressing through the stages of repair, allegedly painted and now on to assembly. I thought let me stop by and check it out . TO MY HORROR! the vehicle was still sitting in the receiving bay two months later with nothing done to it. You could argue this was blatant *****.
I demanded a meeting with management who assured me the vehicle would be prioritised and be completed within 3 weeks. They were baffled as to how the system was wrong. I trusted in management and demanded a new service provider (Mel who got involved in the above situation when she did not have to and has been fantastic- truly a star wasted on this place).
We are now two months later and the vehicle is still incomplete. If I do not get involved and fight nothing happens.
I then received the most shocking customer service from their new Assembly line manager. I was promised completion by last week Friday, I went to view it on Wednesday, assessed the progress. Went back on Thursday to find that nothing had been done on the vehicle and clearly would not be complete by Friday. I was upset but reserved and asked a simple upfront question- "when will the vehicle be complete?", "but understand that I will hold you to this". He gave me His word that it would be complete on Monday 15/05/2023- this was then communicated with Old Mutual. We then went through all the outstanding items of which any not present I was told were in stores. On Monday,I phoned ahead and was told that the vehicle was now in QC- it was not, in fact very little had been done if anything. Upon arrival it was clear that nothing had been done on the vehicle and that it was never going to be complete by Monday.
A litany of excuses followed with a defensive and elevating tone: * Parts are now on backorder * He has only been employed for 6 days so its not his fault or problem * He didn’t know it was ****** and recovered- that means it will take far longer * He doesn’t know what is required to repair the vehicle * he’s doing his best, this is his best and it will take as long as he needs. * there is no fuel in the car so they can’t move it ( the vehicles battery was dead so I’m still confused how they checked the fuel level) * The following and I quote verbatim “ You wanted promises so I gave you what you wanted by saying Monday , So Thursday, it will be done Thursday!”
The absolute Cheek! This is the same culture I experienced with the previous service provider.
I demanded to speak to the same manager but the resolutions were lacklustre and involved trying to expedite what should have been done over the last three months into one afternoon and then of course that won't work so now I must just bear the brunt of waiting longer. The goal in mind is to get me to leave so that this can drag on for longer. I refused to leave and demanded action.
The quality of the repairs is poor. Things are loose, not in stock and all leads me to believe this story is far from finished.
I have never experienced blatant lies, false promises and lack of intervention. I truly would advise potential customers to steer clear. I feel as if expensive vehicles are prioritised as they are far more lucrative than my little Np200. This has been going on for 6 months. Still no resolutions and clear end date. Parts are missing and I know I'm going to have to fight due to poor workmanship.
I HAVE BEEN PAYING 6 MONTHS OF CAR REPAYMENTS AND INSURANCE ON A VEHICLE I HAVE NOT HAD USE OF...and they don't even care.
I am writing this review to force someone from the renew it group to intervene , their website is terrible and there is no access to resolution/complaints department. I am so frustrated and tired of this. I want my car back.
Steer well clear! The cheek is that the insurance companies delegate which body shop you get and then you're stuck with incompetence and daily elevation of your Blood pressure!

Thank you for Replying. It is my goal to remain measured in these situations and get to the desired result.
Whilst the process has been draining and arduous. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of my service provider Mellanie and convey sincere appreciation for the outstanding service she has provided during the ongoing repair of my vehicle. Her professionalism, expertise, and commitment to delivering a high standard of service truly made a significant impact on my overall experience. Upon seeing my frustration with the previous service assistant, She asked if everything was okay, and got involved when she did not have to. This was outstanding customer service and showed her commitment to the company as a whole and not just tasks assigned to her. I was so impressed that I demanded that Raydon (manager) have her assigned to my case. Her attentiveness to my concerns and consistent updates throughout the repair process ensured that I was well-informed and involved at every stage. I have come to realise the difficult position she is put in due to the individual departments mismanagement and shear incompetence- made clear by my interaction with Jaques, the workmanship on my vehicle and my spray painted seats. It seems there are greater problems at Technostar and that I will address with the Renew-it group directly. If it was not for Mellanies' reassuring demeanour, professionalism and commitment I would have demanded my vehicle be transferred to another service provider- A conversation that was had with Old Mutual. I am truly grateful for her assistance and ask that it be acknowledged throughout all this chaos.
The repair to my vehicle is still not complete as we are now awaiting parts. I have taken possession of my vehicle as I don't believe it is safe on site, a bump or scratch and this process is drawn out even longer. There has also been a number of items that have gone missing through the process that needed to be replaced. Once in stock I will book the vehicle in again. Please note this doesn't mean that process can take an indefinite period of time and my expectation is a speedy resolution. I do hope it is understood the level of inconvenience caused through all the back and fourth.
I don't wish to calculate what this process has cost Technostar and the inevitable rework to follow. You have certainly not made profit on my vehicle. The glaring business inefficiencies is not a kin to business survival in these trying times. The core issue here is Supply Chain, Procurement and Quality. Ultimately managerial shortfall of procedure.
* Having to paint a car twice, as in my case, is a waste of money and time. Guaranteed to upset the customer. Almost illuminated by good procedure.
* Overspray on the vehicles seats. Should have been covered or removed - Technically Technostar is responsible for the cost of fixing this not Old mutual.
* There seems to be complacency surrounding ****** and recovered vehicles, Verbatim "This always happens with ****** and recovered vehicle, you keep finding new things that are damaged". I don't agree with this. A comprehensive assessment in the early stages would have prevented the back and forth.
* There doesn't seem to be a logical sequence to the repairs, in my case the vehicle had to be returned to to previous departments for rework on multiple occasions. There is no comprehensive stage gate between each department. This is clear by the number of vehicles with QC issues written on their windscreens- for things that are apparent.
The list goes on...
I have yet to be contacted and ask to be contacted by someone of consequence in the organisation (above Raydon). Not to name and shame but provide constructive feedback.
My hope is to prevent my experience from reoccurring with future customers.
