Pre owned car supposedly passed 80 point check
In March I bought a pre-owned 2015 Audi from Audi Centre George.
I was reassured that the car will go through an 80 point check in the workshop and everything that doesn't pass will be fixed/replaced. One of these items that was specifically mentioned was the rear tyres. They were indeed replaced when I got the car.
After getting the car in March with almost 75000 km on the clock, I wasn't surprised when the Service Due indicator message came on.
So now during lockdown I booked my car in at my nearest service center in Stellenbosch. We don't have an Audi service center here and the car is now out of motorplan etc.
The car was there for an hour and then I got a call telling me they will need to replace the front brake discs as these were worn down below the minimum markers. The pads will also have to be replaced as they are almost completely worn.
This on a car that JUST passed an 80 Point Audi Pre-Owned check?
The quote for genuine Audi parts is over R30000 for front discs and pads.
I am disgusted and have called Audi South Africa. I spoke to Nicole at customer service and she was helpful in opening a case.
After spending a lot of money on a well known premium brand car that I bought from an Audi dealership I was really expecting to not get any surprises.
I hope Audi South Africa and Tavcor Audi George can sort this issue out ASAP. There is no way I am paying for new parts that were supposed to be replaced before the car was sold to me.
I sent the report to Audi George. They rep**** that the brakes were in spec when they sold me the car and that it passed a Dekra Roadworthy.
Audi South Africa then said they are closing my case, as they are sticking with what the dealership is saying.
I will now have to get a lawyer involved.
