Tata Oostenberg - Terrible Service

In December 2018 I purchased a bakkie from Nico De Plessis at Tata Oostenberg. Much to my dismay..

First, I was told I am getting R 5 000 discount on the vehicle price, which was great. However, upon my first test drive, I informed the salesman, Van Zyl, about the front shocks that need replacing - otherwise the vehicle will never go through roadworthy. However, he said they will replace and I proceeded with the purchase only to find that my R 5 000 discount is now withdrawn because they had to replace the shocks. I thought, fine - it was R5k I never had and proceeded with the sale.

I traded my Polo in as a deposit on this vehicle - which they sold within two days.

I had the vehicle for a full two days when the engine light came on. I notified the salesman and he said I must bring the bakkie back to assess - which I did. They gave me a courtesy vehicle to use until the bakkie was fixed. To my surprise it was ready within one day, however, as I drove out, the light was on again.

After NUMEROUS setbacks - from faulty battery, three courtesy vehicles that were all stuffed, EGR problems, leaking diff, injector problems, I even had to tow their courtesy car back with MY faulty bakkie, ridiculously bad service and communication from both salesman and Nico - I decided to reverse the deal. All this while they were sent so many mails and I was stuck at home without any means of transport. My entire December holiday (and money) was spent trying to get this vehicle sorted. All that Nico told me was that he is on leave and will sort it out in January 2019. So in the meantime I must just sit without a vehicle.

Even though I spent R 7 412.50 of MY OWN MONEY on this vehicle to assist them fixing it, I told Nico that that is a knock I am willing to take. Yes, I wrote off R7 4 12.50 to help them. The deal was reversed and I requested my deposit - paid by the Polo I traded in, to be paid back. Nico Du Plessis told me that they cannot pay it back because of interest charges by the bank. How is that my problem? You sold me a faulty vehicle and now you are penalizing ME for your mistake? How is that possible?

Until this day, three months later I have still not received a cent. I got taken for a ride and with a lack of better word - I got ****** of my deposit and money I spent trying to fix this vehicle while they were ignoring me.

I sincerely hope that the wheel turns for people like this. Do not waste your time going to this dealership. You will be very very disappointed.

Heinrich
