Extremely disappointing second experience- The Tasty & Creative Cakes

I previously purchased from this business in June and had a good experience, which is why I trusted them enough to order again and pay a week in advance.

I ordered the advertised R280 Family Dessert Box for a work lunch meeting. What was delivered differed substantially from the advertised presentation. When I queried this, I was only then told that the promotional image had been generated using AI. There was no such disclosure on the adverti*****t or when I placed my order, nor any indication that the actual product would differ significantly from what was shown.

The order also arrived around lunchtime on the day it was required. Because the function was already taking place, returning it and sourcing an alternative was not realistically possible.

Unfortunately, my concerns did not end with the presentation. The brownies we tasted were extremely hard, and when I later opened the red velvet cake, I noticed concerning grey/green discolouration on the cake, which I photographed. At that point I no longer felt comfortable consuming the remaining items. Two cakes and five cupcakes remained in my fridge.

What disappointed me most was that some of this food had already been served to colleagues/clientele before I became aware of these concerns.

The business subsequently offered a replacement and later a refund if the items were returned, but by then the event had already passed. My purpose in sharing this review is not to obtain a refund. It is to document my experience because I believe customers should know that the actual product may differ significantly from the advertising, and because I was deeply disappointed with the quality of what I received.

Sadly, after returning as a customer because of my positive first experience, this second experience has left me with a very bitter taste.

Reviewer Update
UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW: Unfortunately, this situation has become even more concerning. - The Tasty & Creative Cakes After I initially discovered visible green/grey mould-like discolouration on the red velvet cake and reported it to the business, another colleague who had taken a separate chocolate cake from the same order later opened hers and found similar visible green/grey growth on that cake as well. I have photographs of both cakes. This means my concern was not limited to one isolated item. We had also already found the brownies extremely hard, and after discovering similar spoilage concerns on two separate cakes from the same order, I was no longer prepared to risk consuming the remaining products. What concerns me just as much is how the matter has been handled. Instead of immediately acknowledging the seriousness of a possible food-safety issue, apologising and investigating the preparation and storage of the batch, I experienced repeated defensiveness and back-and-forth regarding refunds, what had been consumed and what I needed to return. I attempted to bring this second affected cake to their attention because, irrespective of any refund, I genuinely believed the business needed to investigate what had been supp**** to customers. My number has since been blocked. For clarity, I am not posting this to obtain money or a replacement cake. I had already made it clear that I was no longer interested in either. I am documenting my experience because food quality and safety are serious matters, particularly when food has already been served to other people. I previously supported this business and returned after my first purchase in June. Unfortunately, after this experience and the way my concerns were handled, I have completely lost confidence in the business and will not purchase from them again. That one is quite powerful because you're not speculating about why they blocked you or claiming laboratory-confirmed mould. You're simply laying out the sequence of events and allowing readers to judge the conduct for themselves.
