Unacceptable experience regarding Tashas manager in Cape Town Waterfront

One week ago on the 3rd of May 2017, my mom and I had lunch at Tashas Waterfront, Cape Town. I was recently in a jet ski accident and broke my leg and I am still in recovery. When I walk alot my leg swells. We sat on the couch that is built against the wall and there was pillows on the furniture, therefor it looked cosy and relaxing so I elevated my leg on the couch without my foot or rather shoe touching the furniture. (One could see that the pillows weren't spotless.) Our waitress was very sweet and kind taking our order and not having a problem with me placing my leg on the couch. Not long after my mother and I had started enjoying our drinks, I noticed a tall blonde woman in Tashas waitering clothes walking past while shortly looking into my direction. She then went to the entrance where 2 other waiters were standing and she was talking to them. (I looked at them while they she was speaking to them) Then I saw all three of them look at me at once and I immediately told my mom, whose back was facing towards them, that I have a feeling they have a problem with me having my leg on the furniture. My LEG not my BARE FOOT or even my SHOES!? She then walked away towards the kitchen and then one of the waiters walked to us and asked if we are enjoying everything so far. We said yes. There after he said that they don't allow guests to put their feet on the furniture as it will get dirty. My mother was shocked and so was I. I felt so humiliated and could not believe what was just said. The blonde waitress (apparently she is the daughter of the restaurant's owner as well as a manager) walked to our table bringing newspaper for me to put my leg on, covering her dirty pillows. That is swells they made me feel like a dirty dog. I used newspapers to potty train my puppy but to cover the dirty furniture and indirectly accuse me of making it dirty? My mom was very upset telling her that it is not on and it would be a different story if a child had to play on it with barefeet. I only elevated my leg to reduce pain and swelling as I can't yet walk normally, I still limp as my operation had only been done on the 29th December 2016. I have a metal pin inside for my leg bone to grow back. She then argued that she takes home the pillow cases and materials every single day and washes it herself so she wants to keep it clean. If she takes it home everyday why was the pillows still dirty and then it is a problem because I make it dirty(ier)? We were upset for the rest of the service, not being able to enjoy our meals. When our waitress arrived, we told her what had just happened and she apologised on behalf of the manager's actions and attitude. My waitress even offered to bring me another chair to elevate my leg so she definitely knows how to make her guests feel at home while on the other hand the manager/owner's daughter failed in repeating her customer service. We bring in the money and not her precious pillowcases. It is very ridiculous and I am also in the hospitality Industry studying Hospitality Management at The International Hotel School in JHB. I am currently in 3rd year and I know by far that this action that had happened is absolutely not the right way to treat a customer. It's rude and low. I am also writing a review here as my mom did post a review on Tashas Waterfront Facebook Page and it has now been a whole week where no comment had even been posted back from them. Doesn't seem that they could be bothered. In fact on the reviews on Facebook, there is another complaint about the same woman/owner/manager that occured in April 2017. However Tashas did comment back on that review and not on my mother's review post. Please get back to me so I can see where I stand with the situation.

Regards

Franchen Joubert
